NEWS & STUFF NEWS~ Thank you to all our customers who made 2011 one of our best years ever, if not the best, all numbers are not in yet! We appreciate your patronage and hope to see you again this year.~ The Elusie Gallery will be closed in January and there will be no January Art Walk Easthampton, but please visit the new Selection Gallery in the Eastworks buidling: their Napkin Exhibit is worth seeing.~ We have a few Vital Connections 2012 Calendars left. Now $12.00 (40% off). All proceeds to benefit Cancer Connection in Northampton.~ The Massachusetts Cultural Council has given one of its three Gold Star Awards to Art in the Orchard. Alane Hartley, Russell Braen and myself are honored that the MCC has recognized this event as one that "celebrates diversity, fosters collaboration, showcases artistic excellence, and provides learning experiences for people of all ages and backgrounds". We look forward to the second edition! Thank you to all who made Art in the Orchard such a wonderful success.

There is of course no "ideal" way to frame an image. But no matter how it is done, the way this image is going to be perceived is greatly affected by the frame around it.

A good framing design will never make the artwork better,

but it will influence how it is seen. On the other hand a bad frame job, even an expensive one, can totally devalue the visual aspect of the artwork.

The name Eastmont comes from the East of Easthampton, and the Mont of Montreux, my hometown in Switzerland where I started my first frameshop back in 1987.Bonjour!My name is Jean-Pierre Pasche. I am the owner and CFO (Creative Framing Officer!) of Eastmont Custom Framing. Eastmont Custom Framing opened in the Spring of 2001 in what used to be the convenience store of a gas station. But since 2007 Eastmont Custom Framing has found its true home in Easthampton's Old Town Hall, a historic building that is enjoying a second life as a cultural center and has become a hub for many of the citys arts related activities. This location has allowed us to expand and open the Elusie Fine Art Gallery; it also gives us the opportunity to be actively involved in many of Easthampton's art and cultural events and benefit from the city's constant creative energy.We are proud of the fact that Eastmont has become a trusted destination for so many individuals, businesses and artists from the Pioneer Valley and beyond. We like to think that this success is simply due to the fact that we LOVE what we are doing, which is true even after more than twenty years in business.But of course love alone does not explain everything (does it ever?).It couldnt have happened without: Respect: At Eastmont it is not just our customers that are treated with respect: We understand that if you decide to use the services of a custom framer, the item you put in our trust is dear to you: whether it is the original artwork of a local artist or a French impressionist ~ a well-earned diploma or a Red Sox memorabilia ~ a wedding photograph or a family heirloom, we will handle every order with the same care as if it was our own. Speaking of respect: well aware and concerned about the challenges of our environment, we are regularly expanding our selection of eco-friendly moldings, some manufactured with wood harvested in sustainable forestries, others made of recycled wood chips or even recycled plastics.Experience: Gained frame after frame since 1987 both in Europe and on this side of the Atlantic, this experience allows us to be comfortable in handling all (almost all..) framing designs and techniques. We keep constantly abreast of new designs and techniques and are thrilled when someone walks through the door saying: "I have a special project I'd like to discuss with you." We enjoy challenges and have framed an incredible variety of items, from a fortune cookie to a full size violin to name just two.Quality: Our moldings come from reputable suppliers and are inspected prior to being used; our matboards are almost all acid-free or 100%cotton rag. We use UV filtering and museum quality glazing whenever requested and/or required. We apply all appropriate framing techniques corresponding to the type of items we work on. Safety and conservation always on our mind and our work is guaranteed for 5 years against defects in both materials and craftsmanship. Creativity: The framing industry is incredibly dynamic: attentive to the changes and evolutions in the art world and interior design, the manufacturers keep coming up with new designs , new textures, new colors, new styles. Eastmont's showroom reflects this creativity, boasting a selection of more than 2000 molding and several hundred matboard samples coming from over 20 different suppliers in 4 continents. This large selection combined with our immersion in Easthampton's art community keeps us interested about all art forms and excited about the work we do. Love: Did I mention love already? The E lusie Gallery

Named in honor of my daughters Elisa and Lucie, the Elusie Gallery provides a casual yet bright and spacious venue for local and regional artists to showcase their work.

Located next to E astmont Custom Framing in Easthampton's Old Town Hall, it is a "must visit" of the monthly ArtWalk Easthampton. Our artists receptions attract anything from 80 to 300 guests who also visit the exhibitions in the Easthampton City Arts+

and Flywheel spaces.

The E lusie Gallery is open to many styles and techniques, showcasing a blend of emerging talent and more established artists.

Each year we reserve some exhibition times for fundraisers and other community events like The Easthampton High School Arts Festival or the E astmont Art Fund.

The E astmont Art Fund was founded in 2007 by E astmont Custom Framing owner Jean-Pierre Pasche. His vision was to involve the local arts community in fundraising for local non profit organizations for their mutual benefit as well as the benefit of the contributors.

The concept.

The fundraisers organized by the E AF work on two levels:

1. The juried exhibition: once a beneficiary has been chosen, artists are invited to submit artwork that fit a theme related to that organization's mission. The exhibition's format is a traditional silent auction. Proceeds form the sale of the artwork benefit both the organization and the artists. Fair Trade .

2. A jury selects one of the exhibited work which is then published in a limited edition archival print. Each print is numbered and signed by the artist and sold to benefit the organization, with the winning artist receiving royalties from the sale of the prints. These prints remain available to contributors as long as the edition has not been sold out. This way, the beneficiary of the fundraiser and the artist continue to receive funds even after the exhibition is over. Sustainability.
